In 2000 Peter founded Shopmobility West Lancashire, a charity which loaned mobility equipment to disabled people shopping in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale.

Peter has dedicated his life to the voluntary service of people with disabilities, and was presented with an MBE by HM The Queen in 2008.

HRH The Countess of Wessex honoured BFW with a royal visit on 15th October 2012.

She was welcomed by Chairman & CEO Peter Cousins MBE and Financial Director Jackie Tittle, co-founder, who conducted Her Royal Highness on a tour of the workshop.

She spent much of her time talking with the disabled trainees about their work. Then met the staff and volunteers who support them, before progressing through to the showrooms where she examined equipment which we had recycled.

She gained an insight into how the trainees are involved in the recycling process, and also the immense scale of used equipment which would end up in landfill without this intervention.
